The ISL Therm-A-Stop has been designed to provide fire and smoke protection in fire resisting door assemblies where smoke control is necessary. The seal slows the spread of smoke and fire through a building by reducing the flow of smoke and air through the gaps between the leaf and the frame or an adjacent leaf edge during the early stages of a fire. Therm-A-Stop intumescent door strip is also designed to perform the function of a conventional draught seal in a daily use and is rebated to the head and jambs of the door assembly.
This fire and smoke intumescent strip doesn’t require any further protection, as it is unaffected by atmospheric moisture and carbon dioxide. The Therm-A-Stop fire strip is based on expandable graphite material and when activated by heat, the material rapidly expands and seals the gap between the door and the frame and stops the spread of the fire.
Suitable for latched single-leaf and single swing timber fire resisting door assemblies. As Therm-A-Stop can withstand high temperatures, it is also ideal for applications incorporating timber doors with steel frames where conventional intumescent foam compounds break down. Depending on the size chosen, Therm-A-Stop can offer between 30 to 60 minutes fire resistance.
Therm-A-Stop meets the requirements of BS 5588 for essential installation of intumescent fire and ambient temperature smoke seals around fire door assemblies. This intumescent strip is also tested to BS EN 1634-1 and BS 476: parts 20, 22 & 31.1 for fire and smoke performance. It has also passed the more exacting standards required by Certifire, including CF387.
Therm-A-Stop fire intumescent strip is supplied in a PVC-u casing with a high density polypropylene fin for improved smoke and air control at lower temperatures, as well as a self-adhesive tape for quick and easy installation. The standard height of the pile is 5mm from the PVC-u holder and is generally suitable for sealing an average gap of 3mm to 4mm between door and frame. If wider gaps have to be sealed, a higher brush profile can be supplied such as the 6mm or 9mm brush.
