This Firechief 9V Battery Operated Optical Smoke Alarm uses photo-electric detection method and is effective at detecting larger particles of smoke and is more responsive to fire’s that begin with a long period of smouldering.
This Battery Operated Smoke Alarm contains a pulsed infrared LED, which pulses a beam of light into the sensor chamber every 10 seconds to check for smoke particles. It sends out a 85dB sound that can be heard from 3m away with a light alarm to signal the fire in its early stage, to allow enough time for evacuation.
It has been designed for household or similar residential use and can be situated in bedrooms, living rooms or in the ground floor hallway. This battery operated smoke alarm can be also placed near kitchen’s, as the optical technology makes the alarm less prone to false alarms from cooking fumes. However, it shouldn’t be installed close to poorly ventilated bathrooms as they are liable to false alarm when exposed to steam.
The Firechief Optical Fire Alarm is equipped with a low battery indicator and a test button that verifies the battery and alarm operation. Supplied with a battery, this optical smoke alarm is quick and easy to mount to the ceiling.
